THE COURSE

11.5 km across two laps, combining 9.4 km of running with 2.1 km of swimming. The route moves between Lough Erne, shoreline and trails, with each lap bringing a different rhythm and perspective.

RACE RULES

REGISTRATION & RACE BRIEFING

All participants must register at Event Registration/Check-in as directed in the Race Handbook or communicated by email.

At registration, participants will collect their swim hat, race number/bib or arm band and timing chip.

All participants must attend the race briefing. Anyone who does not attend the briefing will not be allowed onto the course to compete.

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT

Participants must carry all equipment required for the event from start to finish.

All participants must wear their race number/bib and swim hat during the swim sections. These will be provided at registration.

A whistle must be carried for use in an emergency.

Trainers/running shoes must be worn throughout the event.

A soft/collapsible cup must be carried for use at water/aid stations.

A waterproof packaged pressure bandage/field dressing must be carried throughout the race.

Wetsuits will be mandatory if the water temperature is below 14°C.

Random equipment checks may take place at the race start. Participants who are not properly equipped will not be permitted to race.

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT

Additional swimming equipment such as paddles or buoyancy aids may be used, provided it complies with the race requirements.

Flotation devices must not exceed 100 cm × 60 cm.

TEAM RACING

Teams consist of two participants.

Team members must stay together throughout the race and must not be more than 100 metres apart on land or 10 metres apart during swimming.

TIMING

Race times are measured electronically from the start until each participant crosses the finish line.

LITTER

Erne SWIMRUN operates a zero-tolerance approach to littering.

Please carry your race waste to the next marshal or dispose of it at designated waste points. Dropping litter on the course may result in disqualification.

COURSE RULES

The course will be clearly signed and marshalled.

Participants must enter and exit the water only at designated points and follow the instructions of race marshals.

Diving is not permitted.

Taking the wrong course may result in disqualification. The Race Director’s decision is final.

The Race Director or Safety Officer reserves the right to change the route up to and including race day where necessary.

SOLO & TEAM ELIGIBILITY

Solo participants must be 18 years or older and capable of completing the required swimming and running distances.

Team participants must race as a team of two, be 18 years or older, and be capable of completing the required swimming and running distances.

SAFETY & RACE BRIEFING

WITHDRAWAL & RETIRING

Marshals and Race Directors’ decisions are final.

If you need to retire during the race, you must report to the nearest marshal. Do not leave the course without informing a marshal.

Participants may be stopped from continuing if race officials believe they are too fatigued or are in a condition that could endanger themselves or others.

HAZARDS

Parts of the running route are off-road and may include rough or uneven ground, including lumps, bumps, holes and mud.

Participants should also be aware that natural debris may be present when entering or exiting the water.

WATER SAFETY

Only enter and exit the water where directed by race marshals.

If you are struggling in the water or need assistance, roll onto your back and raise your arm to attract the attention of the safety team.

Participants may rest by holding onto the front of a safety boat, provided they make no forward progress while resting.

HELPING OTHER PARTICIPANTS

Participants are encouraged to help fellow competitors who are in difficulty or have been injured.

Outside assistance is not permitted.

CUT-OFFS

There will be race cut-off times.

Full cut-off information will be published in the Race Handbook and communicated to participants before race day.

INSURANCE

The event insurance does not provide personal accident or injury cover for individual participants.

Participants are strongly advised to have appropriate personal accident insurance or valid sports governing body membership that includes insurance cover.
